- Offshore Coast Guard skipper / Trainer 15 years
- Crewed & sailed a traditional voyaging waka from New Zealand to
Noumea (2000) 11 days
- Skipper / owner, charter boat "Tangaroa"
- Professional fire-fighter, New Zealand fire service for 20 years
- Social work & outdoor education for more than 25 years
- Holder of a world dive record
- Queen Service Medal for services to community and Maori 1991
- Passionate about promoting the East Cape Region and maori
culture
